Hevance is a band formed in mid 2003 in Bintulu, Sarawak by Aldrich Lionel Kamijan(vocals/guitars),Jordan David(vocals/backup), Thomas Eddie(duitars), Lucas Ghana (bass)& Gideon Osein(drums).
Having to interest in playing music instruments in a church, Aldrich, Lucas and Thomas along with their friends try to form up a band and used to practice at the church. The band last long for several months after their friends left. Later, Jordan and Gideon joined the group and regularly practice some of the praise and worship song. Until they find it it’s time for them to form a band, the name Hevance (Heavance) were used. For almost every week to jamming together, playing favourite metallica songs (during that time they used to play heavy songs) until Aldrich come out with his own song called Friday27.
Hevance’s music style would be best describes as freestyle/modern rock, citing music influences for their mini album by bands like Peterpan, Coldplay, Evenstarr, and Flop Poppy.
Currently, with the help of freelance songwriter, Frank Meruan Sayau (FMS) and Mac from the band Ethnic Transmissions, the band is bringing some of their previous and new material for their first mini album scheduled for the mid of 2008. This low cost mini album is budgeted around less than 4k. Semampai Ngenang will be their first iban song written by FMS using the elements of pop music.
The main aim is to generate a music revolution as what has been done by Iban’s first pop alternative band, Ethnic Transmissions (ET). This will help build a new direction in the Iban/Sarawakian music industry which is before a dominant by joget/dangdut music scene and encourage more youngsters to turn out with their own songs. Together we make Iban/Sarawakian music industry livelier.
